故事讲述一位厌世的大学教授被诊断癌症，得知只有6个月的生命后决定抛弃一切伪装，从而改变自己人生的故事。他要求自己尽可能的大胆而自由的生活，并且幽默而从容，不计后果，甚至有点接近疯狂……。前职秘密特工白时允（朴施厚饰）曾经接受过严格训练，被看做是“活人兵器”。他买下了一间破败的酒吧“Bar邻居”，开始了隐姓埋名的生活。随着时间的流逝，他和经常出入酒吧的小区居民们逐渐成了一家人，深刻感受到居民们的痛苦和社会对他们的冷漠。最终他站出来面对那些邪恶势力，成为了小区的英雄 。。Plebs is described as "a thoroughly modern comedy in an ancient setting."
