有智能障碍的卡尔生活在一个宗教气氛浓厚的家庭。父母认为卡尔的迟钝是上帝对他们的惩罚，因而对儿子百般虐待。有一天，卡尔无意中撞见自己的母亲正与镇上的拉皮条的亲热，一怒之下用一把弹簧刀将两人杀死。25年后，卡尔又回到镇上，所有人都不把他当正常人看待，这使卡尔心灰意冷。靠着自己在机械方面的特殊才能，卡尔找到了工作，而且还认识了真心待他的男孩弗兰克，进而还熟悉了他的家庭。但是，弗兰克守寡的母亲有个酒鬼男友，他动不动就大打出手，其恶霸行为搅得全家不得安宁。卡尔决定不惜代价为弗兰克解决问题......。“From Far Away” is a documentary dealing with a journey through Turkey.
