加尔文从父亲那里继承到一间位于芝加哥南部的理发店，这是他父亲奋斗的成果，但在他眼里看来这间铺子一钱不值，只是个负担，是在浪费他的时间。在将铺子卖给地方上的投机商后，加尔文才意识到父亲的远见卓识，并开始为卖掉铺子感到后悔。。Photographer Greg Nolan meets Bernice, and loses both his job and his apartment. However, Bernice manages to get him a new apartment, but it is so expensive that he has to get two full-time jobs. Nolan has trouble finding time to do them both without his bosses finding out.。
